Hello & Welcome To UV's MiniTokyo Gallery!
Ultra Violet - Under Constant Revoltion
MiniTokyo for many years now has been a place where I could evolve the experimental unto new levels. A great deal of my experimentalism is demonstrated within this gallery. However, after fifteen years, the experimenting is quite over. My techniques are solid, unique and finely honed. My style is dark, eccentric and violent. In other words, play time's over kiddies... This is what I do. You can take it or leave it. What I do gives me great joy and if I happen to make others happy along the way then I couldn't be more delighted in the revelation.
I'm pleased to be a part of this community from an independent point of view. I enjoy Japanese modern pop culture a great deal. Admittedly, a vast array of my artwork is not secularly confined to the genre of anime. But what is, I invite you to browse upon, enjoy and keep coming back for more!
Stay tuned to this page for new digital artworks from UV!
Thank you for your visit & please enjoy your stay!

UV AGAINST ART THEFT

KEEPING IT CLEAN FOR EVERYONE

It's a pretty big banner isn't it?
And it spells a pretty powerful message as well. I recommend you take two minutes while you are here to read the following fast information:
MT is a great place for artists to become one another's fan. But fans shouldn't take art they admire, re-label/re-model it and call it their own. Especially not without asking the original artist first and in most cases especially not without accrediting the artist in which they took it from.
A responsible digital artist incorporating pre-constructed art from a copyrighted organization and/or artist should make a mention of it in their submission's description. MT makes it easier than ever before now by presenting duel-ownership link tags under the art work's preview: therefore sharing credit to the original organization of production and the artist who provided secondary work for the submission.
I do this without fail.
As secondary artists, we can't write to our favoured organization or artist and personally ask for permission to reconstruct or reuse the work, but we can be decent and accredit them properly. Copy-right Authorities understand from viewing MT's Privacy and Community Policy that all members here are producing art free of royalties and/or profit. This is the fine condition that makes reproduction of an official work okay. Furthermore, the secondary art work (base art) which is used to present the primary art (the stuff that is officially copy-righted) is in fact exclusively owned by the artist producing it at the time. That makes reproduction of the entire piece illegal without first contacting the artist within MT who made (produced) the overall work: ie: wall paper.
Now here's the most important part: If you would like to use any of the artwork you see in this gallery for your own Art, User Page or a Group User Page (that includes: BANNERS, BUTTONS, MT LAYOUT GRAPHICS ect) you simply MUST ask me about it beforehand. Doing so will earn you a yes. Not doing so will get you reported to the nearest MT Administrator or Moderator without delay or exception. Asking someone before you take something is common courtesy and displays good manners.
DON'T THINK YOU WON'T BE CAUGHT OUT! YOU WILL AND THE CONSEQUENCES WILL BE EMBARRASSING AND UPSETTING TO THE PARTY INVOLVED.
Together we can make MT a fair free art trade community.

Kisses and hugs!

Amano's 1001 Nights. a little gift for lady ultra-violet. ^^

au revoir

Quote by Ultra-VioletVector art is always popular for its postmodern feel and clean lines. But would you believe it if I said this particular piece reminded me of a 1970s newspaper fashion ad? In the 70s colour printing for newspapers and comic books most certainly didn't hit the same millions of colours that we have today. They were limited to maybe 50 colours, if that! These simple, clean cut lines and dots give he primary art in its shade of marine blue a French feel against its white backdrop. Very nice! Its unique in its own standing! ^__^

Oh how I love that indeed, you know, now that you mention it, it does look like a 70's color fashion ad. The colors and such, I never thought about it until you mentioned it.
Anywho, thanks for the compliment on A Wolf In Sheep's Cloathing, and I know it's a late reply :O

Quote by Ultra-VioletWell then! Absolutely Top Class C. Kitty! ^___^
I've never previously had the privilege of commenting on wholly original artwork, but this here piece is certainly enough to stop my attention smack in the middle of its march. Well done!

I'm very partial to landscapes and I should like to draw attention to how clever the over all composition of this piece actually is. Incorporating a wonderful selection of pastels and quite clever with its proportions. One would think it was a landscape study directly from a photograph or print. If that isn't so and this piece comes entirely from the imagination then all power to you as well!

There is undoubtedly a melodious sense of harmony and peace. On extremely close inspection the absence of direct shadows makes pinpointing the position of the sun's decent across the horizon lack definition. But this is irrelevant to the voice of the work. The voice of which captures this picture-perfect Japanese moment in brilliant immortality.

I'm inspired! Well done! ^___^

Such a comment! I'm glad you like the pastel colors. I was debating a while on my colors and I was hoping the final look was ok. And no, I didn't use a photo for reference :3 Hm..I see what yo mean about the sun position. This is my first landscape CG so I'll have to remember that next time. I'm excited that you enjoyed the piece though! Thank you! :)

thanks for the in depth comment. it was appreciated. to read a reason of why one thinks something about something. cheers.

Quote by Ultra-VioletHello There Friend Kokuyu! ^___^
If you pardon the old British adage for a moment: "GAWBLIMEY!"
And you must be thinking to yourself about now: 'What the hell was that in aid of?'
And I would answer most truthfully that a few hours ago I received some grand favour for selected artworks from my gallery by Member: Toya999 whom I see you also favoured her artwork entitled 'Butterflies of the Night'. (And with good reason, beautiful piece isn't it?)
But more to the point: When I visited Toya's user page in order to leave an appreciative comment on her guest book, I couldn't help but notice your photograph in her Hot List! AND WHAT A PHOTO, I SAY!
I simply had to stop by and say that you Kokuya, by far have submitted yourself in one of the most interesting presentations of obscure makeup that I have recently had the pleasure to lay eyes on. And that alone warrants my coming around and giving you a virtual handshake. In other words: Damn you're cool! ^___^ hehehe ~____^
And while I feel we could all do with a little less of Mana's notorious appearances on the front cover of Japan's famous Gothic Lolita Bible, I couldn't possibly fault you for your admiration.

And conclusively for this introduction, I couldn't help but notice your mention on the passing of Mrs. Ng Loke Chee. I submit to you my friend, my whole-hearted sympathies on your tragic loss, pro-offering my deepest condolences, and if you allow me, my sincerest wishes that Buddha bless her beautiful immortal soul and that her re-return to Mother Earth see her happy having basked the love of her grandchildren.
Such a loss can only be understood by first hand experience for which I humbly submit I previously endured.
My Warmest Regards To You,
UV

hi! :)

my apologize for late reply, as i've been in crazy projects lately. Now that i can snea for a breather, can do my replies with peace of mind :D

no, i wasn't wondering that way, rather i was thinking "was that an old latin word? i can't find it even in ancient english ^_^' "

ermmm.........sorry, i couldn't remember which one i fav, because i've been concentrating hard on my artpieces, which are pretty exhaustive x_x
umnn.....yeah, i'm pretty curious why was my photo there ^_^' haven't ask her lately but we spend too much time chatting till i forget easily what on the earth i wanted to ask already. XD
hee..heeee....thanks very much too *gives a warm handshake* i'm still improving my make up lessons X-P in which i'll release another version soon :D
Mana-sama is my inspiration of my true identity, :) nevertheless, i believe everyone has their very own opinion, so i don't really mind because i myself did shook my head upon seeing him :nya:

Oh, thank you very much for your generous warm offer. It's been a month since that incident, and still regret many things >_< That's why I put up a memorial in my userpage to remind myself of her tremendous deeds. To be honest, no one in my family today is as kind as her, for her mind is as pure as the driven snow. She never have a single negative thought on anyone, and even greeted strangers with good wishes. It's only after she left the mortal world that we all realized all these.........
Indeed, we are confident she would be safe and fully blessed in netherworld. ^_________^

With sincere regards,
~kokuyu~

Quote by Ultra-VioletTsk! That's always the way isn't it? You produce something you're pleased with and not even so much as a cricket comes around to pay any attention to it. >__<"
Well, let me be the first at best to discuss this piece.
Your colouring, QIB is very clever. All the shading fits into the right places and illuminates its self well. Forgive me; I'm not particularly fond of the skin hue you selected for the young lady on the left. That's of no consequence however and completely insignificant to the over all work.
That of which feels well textured and certainly holds that grudge element only against a white backdrop. I'm always fascinated by the use of white in works.
Well done! ^__^

Thanks for such an extended comment. =)

Yeah, I agree with point 'bout skin colour, it's a bit off, I guess. But I wanted to make a contrast with fair skin of the boys. Actually the composition annoying me much more XD.
Yup, I'm fascinated by japanese fanartists's usage of white and black, so I try it sometime too. =)

Quote by Ultra-VioletTo the uninterested eye, this piece just doesn't have a lot to say about its self. This could relate to the reason as to why it was first removed from the galleries. A regretful decision on their part I should like to impress, for a 30 second inspection in all honesty reveals that this piece is really quite clever in its construction. It's an acquired taste as is the entire Dogs series. What caught my eye in particular was the selection of primary art. Its sparseness and metropoline feel is illuminated by the simple sepia tone that becomes the entire illustration. The worked background of timepieces and technical lines against a interlacing of cinder and tarnished gold work well. The elements however are not cohesive of the actual linework, but that is the overall work's draw. I should like to read more of your thoughts regarding its construction for further consideration.
Very nice! ^__^

I'm glad that you like this piece. =) And I'm always happy to know that there are more Dogs fans
Thoughts? What thoughts? The main point was to make wallpaper with urban feeling, that's all. =) I like to work with Miwa's manga - its got clean lines, lot's of motion and nice atmosphere of dark city.

Quote by Ultra-VioletIf I could deter away from the moral uproar this particular art work has produced and focus on its technical and inspirational value for a moment:
I simply must say it is a work postmodern in feel and ultra modern in production. Its Biblical aspect is what attracted my attention most of all. (...)

My thanks for your kind comment :)
"Moral uproar", eh? It was more like: "it will be deleted" - "no, it won't be deleted" than a moral uproar^^;;
Btw, at first I wanted to colourise the background, but it just wouldn't look right so I made these blue-ish gradients.

Quote by Ultra-VioletFriend Jonny! ^___^
Why, I could have sworn you had a full gallery filled with exciting art works! I came to visit and have a look through and leave a few comments here and there but lo and behold.....the cupboard was bare! (I've got to get some points for rhyming there don't I?) Hehehe ^__^
Alright then, that's enough from me.
Until very soon friend, take care :D :D :D
UV

Like I said I never got to develop wallpaper skills because I never had an opportunity to wall at home with a decent program (everytime I got a decent one computer be dying......actually my computer's midway through dying right now :(). I did a fair bit of photo and graphic work at school with the fireworks programs, nothing spectacular and these days I can barely remember a thing about it. Well that's my excuse! I'm much happier writing reviews and do so whenever I have the time and motivation X-P

Nice little timery thing you have there, I wasn't positive what the posting time was myself.....but it's gotta be midnight somewhere right? Also that's an awesome, cute little banner, it was actually Eunasahng who made that blobby thing and I think it's going to take position of temporary MTM mascot.

A friends just appeared next to me so I must be off to entertain peoples, bai.

Hi I really liked your work called blade mother japanese complex, I was wondering if I could use it as a wallpaper is that okay? Thanks!

Hello, UV-chan! How are you?
I don't know what is wrong with me but I've only seen your reply to my comment on your NANA's wallpaper today! Believe it or not!
So, I just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful comment! It's really inspiring talking to you, you know?! Your concepts and reflections on the series make me eager to know them.
So, if you ever have time to read or watch NANA tell me what you think of it. I understand it's not much of your style, but maybe you'll like it. :)
Oh! By the way, I'm looking forward for your next pieces! Specially the one based on NANA and the one featuring Japanese Complex! I just loved your first Japanese complex wallpaper! It's simply awesome!
That's it for now!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Kisses!

Thank you so very much for you wonderful comments on my wallpapers. I didn't even realise one of them was in the elite galley till you told me!

I mean no disrespect to the people who have commented on my wallpapers before but you by far have made the most visible effort in your comments. It has really made my day to see you talk about the wallpapers themselves rather then simply say that you like what you see.

You mentioned in one of your comments that you would like to hear me talk more indepth about my wallpapers and i would simply love to talk directly about them with you if you want ^^ If you have any messenger programs then i'd love to talk directly to you about them and from the looks of your works i have a few things to learn from you too!

If you so wish please add me to whatever you have:

MSN: raylenzan@hotmail.com
AIM: NapalmRevolver
YIM: onirayl

I'm looking forward to any future discussions and friendship that we may develop.

Many regards ~ Rayl
